Shhhh! My Cyndi's Secrets!

My Dear Friends,

The 2014 Grammy’s have come and gone but the scuttlebutt continues. I thought that this year the show was outstanding! Gone but not forgotten was the deep sadness we felt when legendary singer/actress Whitney Houston died in a hotel bathtub the night before the 2012 awards. Gone were the boring long speeches and endless displaced musical productions that have dragged down so many award shows in years past. All of that part of Grammy history was replaced by a fresh fun and meaningful spirit.  It was indeed an evening filled with JOY!

Your little Cyndi Sleuth has the scoop…………….Psssssst! Come with me! 1IMG_2062 - Copy (566x640)

Rather than dwell on the typical Grammy fashion report or a re-hash of the evening (the internet + media is swarming with that info); I wanted to add “My Cyndi’s Secrets – Shhhh!™” insight into the mix.

Certainly history was made when 33 gay and straight couples got married during the evening’s festivities. We were also treated to a long time coming re-union between The Beatles last living members, Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr as the evening sped by. However, for me the best part of the show was the conglomeration of talented musicians and artists of all ages and all types of music. It truly was about the music and the talent rather than the “young new IT Artist flavor of the month”!

I was up on my feet singing and dancing when one of my favorite bands, “Chicago” graced the stage. After all, their song, “Make Me Smile” did provide the background theme music to one of my Cheer-leading Dance Pom-Pom routines that I performed during another time in my life. LOL! The musical joy escalated when my new boy crush Robin Thicke joined them for a subdued version of his popular hit single “Blurred Lines”. How fun is that?! Here is a shot of Chicago and Robin Thicke performing!    The 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Show

My favorite quote from the night goes to the legendary songwriter and now trending Paul Williams. For those who don’t know, he collaborated with Grammy winning French electronic duo Daft Punk who wear robot suits and never show their faces or talk in public.  They won album and record of the year.  Paul Williams remarked, “You Know, I used to imagine things that weren’t there and were frightening, and then I got sober and two robots called me and asked me to make an album,” Paul Chuckled. “We are ‘Random Access Memories’ – some of us more random than others!” So Cool – this from the man who wrote The MuppetsRainbow Connection’ and almost was one of televisions hit band members, The Monkees. Tee hee! In this photo I share “My Cyndi’s Secrets – Shhhh!”™ with Paul Williams. 8IMG_1836 - Copy - Copy (640x572)

Below is a shot of electronic duo Daft Punk on the carpet. That’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (l) and Thomas Bangalter (r).?????????????????????????????????????????????

Ever since the Grammys, I have been thinking about Daft Punk. In this day and age of “selfies” and non-stop social media why would any “young group” want to hide their faces? Then it hit me.  YOUNG GROUP…… Ah ha! Maybe they weren’t “young”.  They are a relatively new group to the main stream and most new groups and artists at the GRAMMY’s are well – YOUNG! They had been quoted as saying that they wanted only the music to speak for itself. Hmmmm! I went online and did a little Cyndi Sleuthing.

Sure enough – I spotted a 1994 photo of these two unique men without the masks and looking very youthful. However that was 20 years ago. OMG! What a brilliant marketing idea I thought! Now this is purely a theory on my part. It certainly would make for a fun one on one Cyndi Chat with Guy and Thomas to get their honest insight. In any case – I say kudos to Daft Punk. Now, to my surprise People Magazine has published some unmasked photos of the duo just a few hours ago. You can find the link to their site at the end of today’s column. Take a look at their pics and let me know if indeed I have something in my theory. You be the judge. Shhhh!

Another highlight for me was the performance by Pink. She flew through the arena with the greatest of ease in cirque du soleil style. Many said she is a singer and lacked professional flying skills. Having tried the art of flying myself, I personally appreciated the strength she endured to accomplish this brave task.

Here is a shot of beautiful Pink up in the air.????

Here is a shot of me flying ala PINK  uhhhhm ok , I’m only two feet from the floor. LOL! 🙂  Believe me – this is NOT easy! This picture is proof of why I appreciate Pink’s performance so much.

Presenters Olivia Harrison (l), Alicia Keys(c) and Yoko Ono(r) graced the stage.??????????????????????????????????????

What a blast listening to music legends Willie Nelson (l) and Kris Kristofferson (r).The 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Show

Madonna decked out in white always ads interest to any event. ???????

Last but not least is my favorite Red Carpet look at the Grammys. The honor goes hands down to a very pregnant and beautiful Ciara. The famous singer glowed on Sunday and proudly showed off her cute baby bump. The 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards - ArrivalsAs I reflect upon the evening I think of all that transpired. Everything from aging talent performing with the new hot acts, legends reunited as well as young artists celebrating their prestigious wins. There were numerous historical events. All of this coupled with a beautiful “baby bump” signify a future of hope, love and yes JOY! I’m talking about JOY that goes beyond the entertainment industry but throughout the world. Music is after all the universal language.

And until next time……….Strut your stuff on the red carpet of life! Shhhh!

Life is too short so I say – InJOY!    Cyndi Targosz

Thank you for your feedback! It will be fun seeing how this whole robot thing plays out. Stay tuned!

  2. BKSherry7 says:

I thought the robot costumes did not make any sense. Thought it was weird. But since the music was judged and not their age or looks, I now think that it was a good idea. Guess it is important to look at all sides of things, you know from different perspectives. I’m really curious about why they really chose the robot look. It does give them a futuristic persona that truly goes with the hi tech feel of electronic music. hope you get that interview with the robots and tell us the Cyndi secret. shhhh!

    1. Cyndi Targosz says:

Great to hear from you BKSherry7! I’m curious about the robots too. In any case it’s fun to discuss. Hopefully we will get the whole story soon! 🙂

  3. KatieS230 says:

I think the robots are a bad message. It’s like hiding from the truth.

    1. Cyndi Targosz says:

Hi KatieS230! I sure appreciate your opinion. The optimist in me is hoping that they are not sending a bad message but rather a statement that focuses on the merit of their music instead of their looks. We all will find out soon enough. Thanks! InJOY! Cyndi
